The Chartered Institute of Transport and the Royal Town Planning Institute appointed the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) to undertake a survey in order to determine the current opinions of businesses in Scottish cities on the Government's proposals to introduce a charge on workplace parking spaces. A telephone survey of 112 Scottish businesses was conducted by TRL during February 1999. In order to represent a fair cross-section of the Scottish economy, a range of types of businesses in the cities of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen were targeted. Business locations within those cities and at the edge of cities were included. The findings of the survey are presented in the report. (A)
