• CAP Survey Privacy Notice

    This Privacy Notice explains how we collect and use data that you provide to us during the course of the survey on Connected and Autonomous Plant.

TRL Ltd is the Data Controller for the purposes of the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679).

What data will be collected for this research?

The lawful basis for using your information

The lawful basis for us collecting and using your personal data for this research (full name, telephone number, email address, organisation, and position) is your consent, which we obtain through online surveys that we invite you to complete.

What will happen with the information you provide

Any of your personal data collected by TRL for this research will be kept private and processed in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Any paper records of your personal data will be kept in a locked file or transferred to an electronic, password-protected file before being securely destroyed. Electronic files containing participants’ personal data are accessible only to members of the TRL CAP Project Team who need to access them.

We will not share your personal data with anyone else, including our client, Highways England. Your personal data will not be transferred outside the European Economic Area. The anonymised findings from this research will be shared with Highways England, the stakeholder group, and corresponding group to help them inform future policy.

If we wish to share any information you have provided beyond the TRL Project Team we will first seek your independent, explicit consent for this to occur.

The length of time we keep your information

Your personal data will be held until the end of the project (due September 2020) for the purpose of data analysis, maintaining a do not contact list, contacting you about the research, possibly inviting you to workshops and/or a live demonstration. Once the project has been closed, personal data will be securely deleted or destroyed unless you have given permission for contact information to be kept so that you can be contacted about future projects/opportunities we believe you may be interested in.

How we keep your information secure

We take your privacy very seriously; a range of technical measures are in place to control and safeguard access to, and use of, personal information. TRL staff members with access to the personal data are required to complete data protection training on an annual basis.

* Rights in relation to automated decision making and profiling; the project makes no use of automated decision making or profiling.

Please remember that you are not obligated to take part in this research and you are free to withdraw at any time during the study without providing a reason by emailing your withdrawal request to CAP@trl.co.uk.
