    Privacy Notice

TRL is committed to protecting the privacy of the information we collect as part of our activities. TRL has created this Notice to help answer questions you may have about how we protect and use the information you provide.

Data Collection

We will collect your name, organisation and job title, contact details and your country of residence, in order to assess the reach of our survey.

Purpose and Legal Basis for Processing the Data

TRL as a Data Controller takes your privacy seriously and will only use your personal information for the following purposes:

  • Reach the appropriate stakeholders to calculate RAI in specific countries

The Lawful basis for Processing is:

  • Consent


The following third parties will receive your personal data for the purpose(s) outlined above as part of the processing activities. TRL will not pass your data on to any other third parties without your explicit consent:

  • World Bank (RAI Custodian)

The following third parties will receive your job title, organisation and country only:

  • DFID (UK Department for International Development) (Funding Organisation of Programme)
  • Cardno Emerging Markets UK Ltd (ReCAP PMU )

Your Data will be transferred outside of the EEA when communicating with Third Parties:

  • You have the right to withdraw consent; You can let us know you do not which to make your name, organisation and role public.
  • There might be risks involved in making a transfer to a country which does not provide adequate protection for personal data and without any other appropriate safeguards in place.

Storage & Disposal

We have implemented administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help prevent unauthorised access to your information. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access. We make efforts to restrict access to information to only those employees, contractors, and agents who need such access in order to operate, develop, improve, or deliver our programs, products, and services.

Your data will be held until June 2022 by TRL for use within the scope of ReCAP Programme activities and then for 6 months after project termination date.

Automated Decision Making

We do not undertake any automated decision-making or profiling activities as part of the project.

Access to your Information (Data Subject Rights)

We will respect your Rights under the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679).

Right to lodge a complaint

If you feel we have not processed your data in accordance with Data Protection Legislation you have the right  to raise a complaint by emailing RuralAccessIndex@trl.co.uk.
