This report is a case study of the effects of competition on bus operation in Oxford. Following an introduction to the study area, (the city of Oxford), there is consideration of the changes since bus deregulation to the operating structures of the bus companies, the commercial network, level of commercial competition, and changes to supported services. Information is provided on changes to fares, information and publicity, public reaction, innovation and special needs. There is also a general discussion on the effects of deregulation and privatisation. Interviews were held with bus operators and local authorities.
