A number of re-texturing techniques (bush hammering, shot blasting and fine milling) have been applied to worn concrete surfaces in a trial on the M27. TRL were commissioned to monitor the skid resistance, friction and texture performance of each technique. Measurements were made on each surfacing up to 29 months of service. This report presents the results and discusses their implications for the widespread adoption of this technique across the Highways Agency network.
